Hi There.

I received your report and am ready to fix my treadmill.

Only thing is…I can’t figure out how to take the hood off! I have a Proform 542E. I removed the 3 screws in the back, and underneath I see so many more screws, each of them I can not reach.

Do you know how to take the hood off of a Proform treadmill? Any assistance will be welcome. Thanks you!!!

Thank you! I finally figured that out after much prying and pulling.

I was able to fix my treadmill!! Thank you so much. All it took was using a can of air to blow the motor/belts, vacuuming out the black residue, greasing the elevation chain, and pushing in the connectors on the motherboard. WOW! I am so happy! Buying your manual was the best money I have ever spent!!

Paul thanks for all your help . I did order the report and read it, it does provide a lot of valuable info on the maintenance of a treadmill . But what is more valuable is the opportunity to ask some one like you the questions, and get answers form some one that has done this before . I checked the speed sensor as you suggested and it was at an angle and about 3/4 inches away from the wheel . As soon as I adjusted it the treadmill worked fine.
Paul , what I did not tell you was My Father in law had a service person look at this treadmill and got a written estimate for over $400.00 plus he paid $80.00 for the estimate. The repair guy wrote the treadmill needed a new motor controller and a wiring kit. With your advise I fixed it in 15 minutes and no new parts, thanks again.
